For the workers of Tricor Industrial Inc., Christmas isn’t about receiving. It’s about giving.
That was the thought in mind when President Michael Stitzlein told his employees for Christmas he wanted to give back to a local assisted living facility.
Each year the workers purchase gifts for the residents of Hilltop Villa, a facility for those dealing with mental health issues. The tradition began 10 years ago. The presents are delivered a few days before Christmas, and employees spend time with residents as they open their gifts.
This year, the business dropped off gifts Monday to the 14 residents.
“There wasn’t anything I needed, and I’ve seen these guys from Hilltop Villa,” Stitzlein said. “I decided we should do something for them, not me.”
The Hilltop Villa is located near Tricor Industrial on W Old Lincoln Way. Stitzlein often sees the residents outside and thought it would be nice to spread a little joy during the holidays.
When the workers visit the residents Tina Robertson, an engineered products buyer at Tricor, dresses up as an elf and one of her coworkers, Josh Becker, dresses up as Santa Claus.
The residents will later enjoy a pizza party with food donated by Tricor.
